The Barberton Community Leadership Institute has announced they will be awarding up to two $2,250 Scholarships for the 2016-2017 academic school year to a Barberton Highschool students or resident of Barberton for three years as of January 1, 2016. The scholarships are available to all qualified people.

We are excited to announce we are now accepting applications for Barberton Art Mart (BAM!)
Due to the great response from our holiday mart we're expanding into the street to provide space for more artists, musicians, and activities!
This event will be held Saturday, August 8th 2015 from 10am - 6pm.
All applications will be reviewed and applicants will be contacted by July 25th.
All accepted vendors will need to be set up by 10am start time and be able to stay until the end at 6pm. No early teardown. You will need to bring your own tent, table, chairs, etc for your display. Some electricity may be available on a first request first receive basis. There will be a $25 non-refundable booth fee collected upon time of approval. Event will be held rain or shine.

We will be hosting our first holiday art mart December 12th for all of your unique one of a kind gifts. Arts, crafts, curiosities, doodads, but most of all a lot of fun!
MustacheMachine & BlackBetty create artwork that invites you into their imaginations. Using the illustrative skills of MustacheMachine, the photographic skills of BlackBetty and their combined knowledge of design, MM&BB are able to visually create worlds that their eight year old selfs could only dream they would be able to share with others.
Live music will be provided by international jazz guitarist Tom Davis!

On September 13th at 2:30 Artist Tom Kelly will be coming in from Columbus to talk about his show ‘Again I Leapt and Wandered’ (currently showing at Nine Muses), join us to hear about his technique, thought behind his pieces, and to ask him any questions.
Event is open and free to the public.

Join us for our Open Mic Night every Thursday from 6:30-9:00pm for music, poetry, and good times!
All age groups are welcome and everyone gets 15 minutes (roughly 3 songs).
Sign up is on a first come basis so arrive a little early.
I would like to thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart for making the grand opening of Nine Muses such an incredible success! Thank you to all the artists who submitted their work, thank you to Trial of Lucy for the great music, thank you to Kave Coffee Bar for keeping us thoroughly caffeinated through the evening, thank you to the City of Barberton, and thank you to Neighborhood Development Services, Inc. (NDS) for making all of this possible.
I'm positively blown away by the love and support from everyone who came to the opening, who has cheered us on our way, and all of our future patrons, thank you all for being there now and in the future. This is just a starting out point, there are so many exciting things happening here in the City of Barberton and we are honored to be a foundation stone in the start of the Arts & Entertainment District!

Nine Muses' Grand Opening Group Show “At First Glance"
A first glance at anything can cause a stir of emotions; things being new, fresh, thrilling, frightening. Artists are being asked to create up to 3 pieces along this concept, be it a new medium, subject, or anything, the sky's the limit! If any artist would like to bring drinks or snacks to share at the opening reception it would be greatly appreciated! I will be able to provide light refreshments but sharing is always fun!

June 13th Nine Muses will be involved with "Out to Lunch" Downtown Barberton (a NeighborWorks week project!), an effort to get people to go downtown for lunch and to see what all Barberton has to offer! There will be lunch specials at local restaurants, activities at local businesses, and the first glimpse at the growing Barberton Art's Scene!
We will have a 'pop up' gallery, art demonstrations, live music, sidewalk chalk, and so much more!
The luncheon runs from 11am-2pm June 13th - Arts will be in the 'Goodrich Temporary Art-space' (Formerly Barberton Tire Shop soon to be something super cool)

Art drop-off will be June 11th and 12th between 2 and 7pm at the Temporary Art-space

Artists are asked to submit up to 3 pieces of their works for this temporary exhibit. If your pieces are for sale it will be a 70/30 split, NFS is okay too.
Along with submitting your art, I'm looking for anyone interested in giving live demonstrations, chalk artists (or anyone who wants to rainbow-ify the sidewalks with me), hula hoopers, belly dancers, musicians, you get the idea!
